Hala Ghazi

Hala Ghazi is a Research Fellow and a Community Consultant in Aqaba Jordan. She has a Master’s Degree in Engineering, Marine Based Resources Renewable Energy. Hala is a winner of two research grants. She had the role of the Principal Technical Advisor in two Community Consultancies with UNDP Jordan: Citizen Science Monitoring of Fisheries with Thaghr el Ordon Fishermen Society, Aqaba, Jordan; and Citizen Science Environmental and Socioeconomic Monitoring of Touristic Glass Bottom Boats in Aqaba, Jordan. She is in the process of applying for a PhD Candidature at the Center for Tropical Marine Ecology in Bremen Germany. Hala’s awarded research grants are: i- Studying Trace Elements in the Stony Corals Stylophora pistillata along the Jordanian Coast of the Gulf of Aqaba Funded by the Red Sea Foundation-USA, and ii- Assessment of Coastal Management and Internationally Supported Initiatives on Achieving SDGs, 13, 14 and 15 Objectives on the Jordanian Coast of the Gulf of Aqaba. The Grant is awarded through the Knowledge and Scientific Network of the Local 2030 Coalition, supported by the Italian Government, UN-Habitat and the Center for International Political Studies (CeSPI).

2018 -2022: MSc Degree in Engineering; Marine Based Resources Renewable Energy; GPA: 3.32; Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, Maan, Jordan.

Thesis title: Marine Microalgae: A Renewable Resource of Biodiesel Production Experimental work on the feasibility of extracting biodiesel from marine microalgae. Incubating and testing different microalgae species for biodiesel production recovery. The first experimental work in Jordan on extracting biodiesel from 

marine microalgae.

2010 -2014: BSc Degree in Coastal Environment, GPA: 3.1; University of Jordan, Aqaba, Jordan.
